Testimonials

Adine Anhalt, charisma ridgebacks BREEDER says…

“As a breeder of purebred Rhodesian Ridgebacks, I met Allison at an all-breed dog show in 2011. I like to watch the other breeds and was taken with her young male Golden Retriever (Vegas). His coat was exquisite, and he was extremely well trained. His gait was beautiful, and it was easy to see why he was winning. After meeting his owner, Allison Bokitch, we struck up a friendship based on dog fancy that continues to this day. I admire the focus Allison places on temperament, structure, beauty, and form. More than that, Allison is one of the few show breeders that work her dogs in the field, developing the skills for which they were intended. She also pursues therapy dogs, service dogs, and obedience titles. Her dogs are breed ambassadors that demonstrate the great versatility of this beautiful breed. Her passion for breed education and preservation continuously motivates her to administer rigorous health tests to ensure soundness, meet breed standards and produce dogs that are at home in the show ring, in the field, or in your home on the couch. I have recommended Allison’s companion dogs several times because she is always available to support those who are lucky enough to have a Kenro dog. That support is priceless”.

jay and Kristy say…

Kenro Goldens have been wonderful to work with.  Alison made the process very easy and has been very helpful in answering all of our many questions.  Reno is a beautiful dog, inside and out.  His calm and gentle nature makes him easy to take anywhere and he’s wonderful with kids and strangers which is great because we are constantly stopped by people who want to meet him.  He loves being around other dogs and will happily follow their lead at playtime.  If they’re calm, he’s calm.  If they’ve got the zoomies, look out because here comes a big golden rocket.
At the end of the day, his happy place is as close as he can get to us.  Whether he’s lying on our feet or our laps, he’s our constant companion and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

frequently asked questions

I have had golden retrievers for over 20 years.  I have actively participated in a wide range of dog sports including, obedience, rally, conformation, agility, field tests, therapy work, and service dog training. Over half of this time has included breeding.

Yes all KENRO Puppies will be registered on a non-breeding contract with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).  In Canada, all purebred dogs come with a Purebred Dog Certificate of Registration issued by The Canadian Kennel Club – without this certificate, they can’t legally be sold as purebred. The certificate indicates, among other things, the dog’s registered name, breed, and date of birth, as well as the names of the dog’s sire and dam. The breeder is responsible for registering the puppy and forwarding the certificate to the new owners within six months of the purchase date – they cannot charge additional fees for this service.

Yes, the dam and sire’s health clearances can be shared at any time.  The documents are also included in the puppy package for future reference.  Any responsible breeder would never think of breeding a dog that hasn’t passed the recommended health clearances. For the Golden Retriever, the basic health clearances that need to be done are for hips, elbows, eyes, and heart.  I also certify for thyroid, ichthyosis, full dentition, and PRA.

Yes!  You may visit at any time by appointment only.  However, once puppies are born there are no visits until they reach 6 weeks of age.  This is enforced to try to reduce the risk of disease.

Puppies should go to their new homes between seven and nine weeks of age. This is the optimum time for a puppy to transition from his litter to his new family – any earlier and he may have issues with other dogs in the future; any longer with his littermates and he may not bond as well with people or have a difficult transitioning to his new surroundings.

Puppies will be examined, dewormed, and vaccinated prior to leaving for their new homes.   The puppies will also be checked periodically by the veterinarian to monitor their progress and health status.  All veterinary care is done at home with the veterinarian making house calls.  This is to reduce the risk of diseases being passed on.

Breeding is not an exact science, and problems can surface in the best of lines.   There is no one line that is completely clear of one disease or another.  At KENRO, we offer a health guarantee for 26 months.  This guarantee is against severe hip and elbow dysplasia and heart conditions and defects.  You will be given the choice of either a new puppy of a similar litter or purchase price back of the puppy should this occur and be verified with a board-certified veterinarian.  I will not take your dog from you.

Currently, the purchase price is $3500.  This is subject to change at any time as costs related to breeding are continually changing.

At KENRO, we select the puppy for you.  We believe that we have better insight into the puppy’s developing personality since we have been with them since birth. When we do interviews with potential owners we make an extensive list of things new owners want their puppy to have and be able to do.  You are able to indicate whether you want a male or female.
