CAN. CH. BPIS BPIG Coltan’s Royal Debut at KENRO Am-CGC

D.O.B. February 8, 2012

(CH. Coltan’s Labour Day Classic x CH. YBF Golden’s Tsunami)

London is the start of many new things for me and the KENRO team! I have never owned a girl before so this is special and exciting for me! London is a half-sister to Vegas and a niece to Tucson. I have Karen Smith from Coltan kennels to thank for entrusting this little girl to me. It will be a very big step and a new adventure all in one! This breeding ties in Karen’s line which I love but also Dawn Daley’s line from JBG’s Registered Golden retrievers and Bravo Goldens from the USA.

London has started her show career with a bang!!!! She has taken puppy group placements as well as best in the show! She is exceeding at obedience and fieldwork. Her personality and drive to work are second to none! I can’t wait to see what else this little girl can accomplish in the next few months! I am so happy with her and enjoy working with her! Judges’ comments have been beautiful head, correct topline, and very proportionate with excellent movement. Her fiery attitude is also an attribute that is liked in the ring!

Well, London finished her Canadian championship confirmation very quickly! We are now going to concentrate more on obedience fieldwork in the next year to come! I’m looking forward to working with her and seeing all of her many accomplishments!

London finished her Canadian Championship in Calgary, Alberta November 2012. Special thanks to Shannon Scheer for presenting her so beautifully. London is 9 months old and had very limited showing opportunities to attain this huge title.

Denver

GCH. BBPIG Coltan’s Strike it Rich

D.O.B. April 13, 2013

Denver is a sweet boy just like his big brother Vegas! He has been doing very well with learning the rules of the house. He’s getting very used to the grooming table and likes to be stacked! He will be given a partridge soon to see if his birdiness is as good as his brother. He’s grasping retrieving already and doing very well. Thanks to Karen Smith for entrusting me with another one of her boys. I have high expectations as he has big shoes to fill! Please watch for Denver in the show ring in October 2013 and the obedience ring shortly after!

Britain

CAN GCH. MBPIG KENRO’S ROYAL PRODIGY OF TUCSON TDI

D.O.B. Sept 6, 2015

Britain 8 months old showing at the hub city dog show in Saskatoon…………thank you to Shannon Scheer for presenting her so beautifully

Britain was a dream come true!!!! I had planned for a very long time by trying to find a way I could get “my Tucson” baby!!! When Britain’s litter was born ………I was in heaven!!! These puppies were very special to me and being able to keep one was a thrill!!! Britain is a wonderful blend of her mom and dad and I can see the many attributes that I LOVE of Tucson and London shining through. Britain is one smart cookie!!! She is showing the persistence and determination of her mom and the intuition and calmness of her dad. She uses her mind daily to sort out things and problem solve as she is playing and we are training. She has confidence that is second to none and will approach new tasks with much wisdom and skill. She seems to pick up on things very quickly and once she is shown something it sticks and she will not falter – this is her dad through and through! She has a zest for life and a want to rule the roost – this is definitely her mom!!! I’m having a blast with her and plan to have her in the show ring this winter……..so please watch for her and she’s starting training for therapy work and is excelling!!! She seems to have the intuition to know if people and children need calming and she just “does”..I find this incredible at such a young age and I am in awe every time I work with a dog that just “has it” and she does.

Georgia

Georgia – Kenro’s Crimson Southern Belle

DOB February 17, 2018

Georgia is every bit a little lady and a snuggle bug!  She is the sweetest and most enduring dog I have ever had.  She is one of my very own homegrown girls who has exceeded my expectations and made me very proud.  She entered the show ring at 12 weeks old winning baby puppy placements and sweepstakes very easily.  She started her show career with a bang taking multiple breeds and group placements still as a puppy.  Georgia garnered more group 1 win than any other dog I have had the pleasure of owning and was the #1 golden female in Canada as of the stats in January 2020.  Georgia not only knows how to strut herself in the show ring but she is an avid and very strong swimmer and retrieves like crazy!  Georgia also has skills in doing therapy work and helping to regulate children who have experienced trauma.  She has had 2 successful litters and was a doting mom.  The puppies she produces are very correct and have a very soft sweet nature about them.

Tulsa

Tulsa – Kenro’s Peace and Tranquility May 18, 2022

Tulsa is the new kid on the block!!!  She is a daughter of my very own Georgia and the famous Tonka –  Venture’s Boys N Toys.  Tulsa has a very calm and sweet demeanor like her mom.  She is playful and incredibly smart!!!  She has just started her training and our hope is to have her in the show ring as soon as possible!  Please watch for her strutting her stuff in the coming months!!!

About Golden Retrievers

The Golden retriever is called a sporting dog or a Group 1 dog according to the CKC or AKC. They are a super breed that is very versatile and active. They love their people and especially love children. Goldens excel in any type of therapy or service work. They do not do well staying in the backyard with a toy all by themselves. The golden retriever is a very social breed.

They are not meant to be a couch potato and need lots of exercises. They were originally bred to retrieve water foul and upland foul so they love the field and usually excel at bird retrieval. They are generally easy to train and do not tire when asked to do the same task over and over. They are very easy to please and they want to please their human all the time.

Many people think that when you get a golden retriever you really don’t have to do much training with it. This is not true. Even though they are a relatively “easy” breed, they still need to be taught what is right and what is wrong. Don’t expect to buy a golden and leave them to their own devices. This could turn disastrous.

Goldens also shed a lot. If you don’t like dog hair in every aspect of your life, don’t get a golden! They shed constantly and it only gets worse in the spring and Fall. They need to be groomed regularly to prevent matts from forming and hot spots from developing. If you don’t want to contend with grooming a golden don’t get one!

If you don’t want to take care of the long hair then get a Labrador retriever. A Golden’s fur that is not maintained only adds to problems for the golden. Their skin needs to breathe and if there are matts and hot spots that can lead to major irritation and in some instances horrible infections.

Why a Purebred?

What are CKC/AKC registration papers and why are they important?

To be considered purebred, both parents of the puppy must be registered with either the Canadian Kennel Club or the American Kennel Club. The dam (mother) must be registered with either Club in the name of the person signing the application for registration as owner or lessee at the time of the birth of the litter. Only the recorded owner or lessee of the dam at the time of birth of the litter may apply for registration of the litter and only the recorded owner or lessee of the dam at the time of birth will be considered the recorded owner at the birth of the litter.

It is CANADIAN LAW as stated in the Animal Pedigree Act that no dog may be sold in Canada as purebred without the animal being registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (C.K.C.)

Canadian Kennel Club registration papers are your certification that your new puppy is a recognized Purebred Dog.

If someone offers to sell you a purebred puppy with no CKC registration papers for a cheaper price THIS IS NO BARGAIN and you should understand why.

In accordance with the By-laws, Dogs must never be sold on a “with or without papers” basis. The breeder is responsible for the submission of and payment for all registration applications. Such costs may be included in the price of the dog but under no circumstances shall the buyer be asked to submit or pay for any applications to register or transfer the ownership of a dog.

The CKC charges an amount to register a litter then an additional small amount to register the individual puppy. They do not charge hundreds of dollars!!! It is also illegal to sell an unregistered dog as a purebred so ask yourself “why would a seller choose to offer a purebred puppy without registration papers at a few hundred dollars off if the dog really is a recognized purebred dog?”

If you make this purchase you more than likely have bought from a person who does not mind selling you a dog under false pretext. Perhaps they have been disciplined resulting in their being suspended or disbarred from the Canadian Kennel Club or have bred from a dog purchased on a CKC Non-Breeding Agreement. A Non-Breeding Agreement is a legal document, which formalizes an arrangement between the breeder and the purchaser, denying the right to breed the dog without the breeder’s consent.

If the seller is willing to break this legally binding contract what other illegal or dishonourable acts are they capable of? What else might they have not been straight forward with YOU about? Did they really do genetic health checks on the parents? Did they really protect the dog from being mated by the mixed breed male down the street? Did they really get an all clear from the Vet on the puppy’s health check?

These types of sellers are only concerned with making money. Rarely do such persons do genetic health checks on the parents so they have no idea what genetic time bomb may be waiting to pop up with no consideration for all the associated vet bills and emotional pain you might later encounter. After all they now have your money and won’t be there for you in the future if or when a serious problem arises.

When deciding to purchase a purebred dog it is generally because you have done some research and found that you like the look, size, coat type, energy level, temperament and purpose of the breed. It is well worth the price of a registered purebred from a reputable breeder to ensure you get what you want, after all you will not only be responsible to this animal for next 10 to 15 years but it will live in your home and play with your children. Do you really want to bring home a ticking time bomb!
